Privacy Policy

This page explains what Landscapers Index collects, why, which third parties are involved, and what you can ask us to do about it. Last updated 17 August 2026.

Business listings published on this site

This is the part most people are here for, so it comes first.

We publish business contact details — company name, address and phone number — for landscaping companies across the 100 largest US cities. Those details are collected from each company’s own public website, which is the page the business itself controls and publishes for the purpose of being contacted. Nothing is taken from map profiles or aggregator sites.

We record the page each listing came from and the date it was collected.

This is business contact information published for trade purposes, not personal data volunteered to us. Where a landscaper trades as a sole trader under their own name, that information can still identify a person, and we treat requests about it exactly the same way:

  • If a detail is wrong, tell us and we will correct it.
  • If you would rather not appear at all, tell us and the listing is removed. No argument, no retention offer, no requirement to explain.

Listings are not sold, licensed or provided in bulk to anyone.

Information you give us

If you add or claim a business listing, the form asks for a business name, address, phone number, website, a description, your name and email address, and a password. Submitting it creates a user account so you can manage the listing afterwards. A listing is not published from that form until it is reviewed.

If you submit a quote or enquiry form, we collect the contact details you enter and a description of the work you need. Those details are passed to landscaping businesses serving your area so they can respond, and businesses may pay for access to enquiries. More than one company may contact you about a single enquiry. Only submit one if you are happy to be contacted on that basis, and tell us if you want the enquiry deleted afterwards.

If you buy a Featured placement, payment is handled by our payment provider. Card details are entered on the provider’s systems and are never received or stored by this site. We keep a record of the transaction — amount, date, what it was for — because we have to.

If you email us, we keep the message and your address for as long as needed to deal with it.

Information collected automatically

  • Server logs. Our host records IP addresses, request times and pages served, as any web server does. These are used for security and diagnosing faults.
  • Cookies set by WordPress when you log in or leave a comment. If you never log in, these are not set.
  • A payment cookie, set only when you begin a Featured placement purchase, so the checkout can be completed. It expires after a week.

There is no analytics or advertising tracking on this site. No Google Analytics, no advertising pixels, no cross-site tracking, and no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to beyond the strictly necessary cookies above.

Third parties

Only these receive data, and only for the stated purpose:

  • Our web host, which stores everything the site holds.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile, used to keep spam out of forms. It checks the submitting browser and receives the information needed to do that.
  • Mailgun, which sends the site’s outgoing email. It receives the recipient address and message content.
  • PayPal, for Featured placement payments. It receives what it needs to take the payment.

None of these are given data for their own marketing, and we do not sell or rent data to anyone.

How long we keep things

Listings stay published until the business asks for removal or we take them down. Accounts and their listings are kept while the account is open. Transaction records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Server logs are kept for a short period on a rolling basis.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can also object to a listing being published, and we will remove it — that request does not need a legal basis, just an email.

Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. We apply the requests above to everyone regardless of location, because it is simpler and fairer than checking first.

Children

This site is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes and the substance of the change is described here rather than quietly edited in.

Contact

For corrections, removals, access requests or anything else on this page, send us a message and we will respond.

That form is the route for every request described above — correcting a listing, removing one, or asking what we hold about you. You do not need to give a reason for a removal request.
